Mental Health Social Network

Mental Health Hackathon SolidStart Supabase

🚀 What is it

HelpIt was our proposal for the HACK4FUTURE SENA hackathon in the Inclusion & Diversity category. It's an anonymous mental health support and guidance forum where people can share their thoughts and vent, making their situations visible and receiving help from others who are going through something similar — while also providing helplines and mental health resources. Built by Marlon Hernández & Carlos Rivera.

🧠 Problem

Mental health topics often meet hostility online, and people stay silent because they fear being judged. Existing spaces rarely feel safe or welcoming enough for someone to open up about what they're going through.

💡 Solution

HelpIt integrates different features into the forum to ease the hostility that mental health can bring:

  • AI assistant: Flubber, a virtual mascot that helps you anywhere on the page — teaching you how to use it and acting as a counselor with helplines and resources (without replacing professional psychological help).
  • Anonymity: an anonymous forum with auto-generated names and passwords, easy 3-step signup, and QR codes to log in quickly on new devices — freeing you from the pressure of being known.
  • Gamification: levels, XP and achievements reward interaction, creating healthy competition that, in turn, saves lives.
  • Accessible settings: dark, light and high-contrast themes for people with reduced vision.
  • Interactions: posts, comments and likes across categories that best fit your thoughts, with XP and achievements as incentives.
  • Notifications: find out as soon as you log in whether you received a new interaction.
